Hidden Hurt Domestic Abuse Information

Always make sure you feel SAFE

by Larissa
(New York City )

We have the right to be loved, we have the right to feel safe and protected and if you feel you're not feeling safe or protected, then you have to protect yourself!

Because that is loving your self and no one, no one can take the love you have for your self away from you.

Family and friends may be pushed away from the abuser but always make sure he doesn't take your self away.

Although I came out with low self esteem and struggle almost everyday with the pain that I suffered:

I am always happy that I'm safe,
I'm smiling,
I'm loved.

I Feel Dumb & Scared
by: Anonymous

My abuser tricked me into coming back into a relationship with him, when he beat me up.

Previously, it'd been a few pushes, put-downs, picking me apart, and finding every possible thing I did to be offensive.

I feel scared most of the time even though he is gone. I'm scared of not knowing what will happen to him. I'm scared of the fragile, weak, insecure person with low self-esteem that is me now. I was never like this and now I am. I'm trying to feel safe. I'm reaching out for help, it's just not helping. Your story moved me ... a little.

I just feel so dumb and scared. I just can't get there.
