You can do this
by Terri
You can do this. It apparently takes 7 attempts on average to leave an abusive relationship. I had tried to leave so many times. When I finally left my ex husband I had to explain to my parents why, as social services were threatening to take my children. By the time I did go I had no choice. I lost my home, possessions, work everything. But by then I was so determined to get away as long as I had my children everything else was just stuff. My point is, when you are ready, make your plan. Get out and stay out. Use your local DV service to help you - you will waver & be so confused, terrified, 'alone' that you must take all the help you can get. But you can do this. |
Life after getting out of an abusive relationship
often continues to be a struggle, and It's My Life Now offers
guidance to overcoming common pitfalls, blending worksheets with insights on
self exploration and ongoing growth. From handling feels of loss and guilt to
overcoming feelings associated with having loved an abuser, this book continues
to offer invaluable lessons and be a real source of help and strength:
